Been there done that, spent the money for the high dollar stuff, and when it goes down into sand and gravel, or gets braced against a wall, it still gets scratched up. I have yet to find a coating that is impenetrable, and I've tried Birdsong's Black T, Robar's NP3, even IonBond's Most coating (although that was pretty close it's cost prohibitive).
I'm not knocking those who use the high end coatings, but keep in mind that anything adhered to the metal can and will be removed over time from use. If it's a hard use tool, that wear will be accelerated.
Duracoat out of all the "quality" coatings is my least favorite. It's too think of a coating, I rather Krylon something instead of Duracoat it. If I am looking for a quality coating I rather use Norrell's or Cerakote.
