I saw the other article about the drug raid on the wrong house so I figured this would fit right in...
ICE/DHS announced this week that they helped rid the Internets of some kiddie porn peddling websites. While they were patting themselves on the back for taking down these 10 domains, they forgot to mention is that they apparently accidentally seized another domain called mooo.com and implied that all 80,000+ mooo.com user sites contained child pornography.
Mooo.com is similar to wordpress.com and blogspot.com in that users set up a subdomain and then create their own content (yoursite.wordpress.com or yoursite.blogspot.com or yoursite.mooo.com).
During the 3 days that they seized mooo.com, if someone went to visit your perfectly legal yoursite.mooo.com site, they saw this:
ICE/DHS gave back everyone's mooo.com site content and it was only down roughly 3 days. But you'd have to wonder what damage was done to people's reputations and revenue if they were small biz sites or the like...
