That's great Tula, never thought of somthing like that. It's a fine ending for an old war horse like that, better than the scrap heap, I would think whoever reparks it would render it inoperable.

Guy in Michigan, Tim Shuff (I'll try to post a link) does fantastic work, I think he is the go to guy for realistic parkerizing.

Will the museum or you be doing something to make this rifle permanently non-functional? No telling what somebody down the road might try to do if this rifle appears to be functional.

We haven't gotten that far yet. I would say that the barrel will probably end up being lead filled like most of the other dummy guns.

I just met with the head of the museum and found a stock for it. He gave the green light to clean it up and get it to him to be parkerized and it will be on display in the museum in just a couple of weeks.

Last I talked to jim about it it was heading to a gent in Princeton to be parkerized. I actually will be meeting with them tomorrow about some other things and I'll have to ask. I can't believe it's been this long ago.
