Things ppl shouldn't do to me....
Let me stat off by saying yes I am patting myself on the back here and I know I made this harder then it needed to be,
But the thought of messing up a $1000.00 slide doing something new had me nevious.
This slide showed up in the mail from a builder I do work for with no warning of what it was and what he wanted.
Turned out to be a Caspian Damascus slide with a request for SVI style Diamond serrations.
The slide
The request
On the mill I am a hobbyist, not a machinist, I have no CAD program, the programming I do is done at the mill.
So to figure out angles, bit size, spacing, feed and speed etc, took me a while and some trial and error.
Then make a left and Right side pattern and do it on a hard to replace slide, that was stressful.
Soo..
Worked up a program using a 5/64" cutter.
After some trial and error came up with something I liked.
Finally got up the nerve today to transfer this to the slide.
This video is sped up 30x.... I exaggerated the length cuts so I could run these serrations across a long dust cover frame later if I wanted to.
I am feeling pretty good about it right now
Thanks for looking
