I think the proper german pronunciation would rime with rock, but with a softer ch at the end. Imagine it were spelled 'Kokhh', with the 'h' pronounced. It's not a pronunciation that rolls off the American tongue easily.

We're not talking grammar and translation, we're talking pronunciation of proper names. I would think they know how to pronounce their own names...

It's pronounced "Coke," the same way as the ever popular soft drink, not "Kotch," as in "notch."
The late NYC Mayor Ed Koch pronounced it the latter way.
The founder of the Boston Brewing Company (Samuel Adams Boston Lager and other beers) pronounces it "Coke" also.

I always figured it was pronounced like the Koch brothers, hence like coke.
