How to keep birds from nesting?

I have Robbins that are building nest after nest in the same spot where they are not really wanted.

One spot is on the front porch on the blades of a ceiling fan. I don't want to keep the fan on 24/7. As soon as the nest is removed, they start building again.

Any ideas on what would keep them away? I have wind chimes about 2 feet away but the sound/movement doesn't seem to scare them off.

I wish, as soon as you flip the switch they are back at work.
(They are more stubborn than me!)

If you can, leave the fan on continuously for a few days, they will find another place to nest.

Note: This may not work if your dealing with psycho robins.

Maybe a motion switch aimed at the top of the blades? Bird comes close, fan turns on.

Hawk or falcon silhouette placed in the nearest window? Same thing one can do to keep psycho birds from killing themselves by slamming into the glass.

If they're trying to nest on the blades, maybe try taking the blades off for a week or so, until they find a new building site?

I have a porch light fixture that's above my entry door thats real popular with some kinda skinny grey birds-Gonna try the duct tape idea! Tired of chasing them around inside the house,shooing them back outside-repeatedly tearing down the nests seems sorta unneighborly

I had the same problem in 2 areas.
After removing 2 nests per day for 1 week they gave up.

From my experience, just make them a nice, pretty nest on there; but that may only work with chicken, ducks, and cats.
