If we had more people open carrying rather than covering it up, perhaps it wouldn't be so novel huh?
As long as we're perhapsing........Perhaps, it could make it worse.

I support open carry. I am only playing devil's advocate here. That said, your statement is illogical. The legality of open carry has nothing to do with the fear people have of guns. Why do you say people need to stop being afraid of visible guns? Don't they have as much right to be afraid of visible guns as you have to carry it?

Interesting tack you have going on there....That's completely true. But the low wage young people they often have working at these places can't be expected to be that logical. Anyways, it is their perogotive, the law does not state they must let you walk on to their property armed.
Add no right to be "offended" too. That's always been a big debate topic.Fear is not a natural right. So no, they do not have the same right to fear what I have a right to bear.
While we are at it they do not have a right to:
1. Be happy
2. Be comfortable
3. Feel safe
4. Any of that other emotional feeling crap that liberals spew out of their mouths to control gunowners.

Bunch of Slack Jawed Nancy-Boys in here...
Why do I get the feeling that you're hiding behind the "Devil's advocate" moniker that you have attached to yourself? As long as we're perhapsing........Perhaps, it could make it worse.

Fear is a natural human emotion (along with almost every other living animal organism that has a brain). It is a part of what scientists refer to as the "lizard brain" so even lizards have it. It is actually more "natural" than any other emotion. If we don't have a Right to be afraid then I can't see any other Right being one.
So, yes, fear is indeed a natural Right...along with hate, disgust, righteous indignation or any of those other emotions that conservatives also spew out of their mouths to control others with whom THEY don't agree.
As an example - most conservatives fear gays which they transform into hate & righteous indignation which allows them to justify to themselves the act of restricting others Rights to love whomever they choose.
The government couldn't ban fear any more than they could ban hate (or love).
I think many people's idea of Rights are confused. They think that just because it's not listed in the Constitution that it's somehow not a Right. That is very incorrect (see the 9th amendment - the Founders sure were some pretty smart dudes, huh?).
OTOH, the "right to bear arms" is not a natural Right. The Right to defend yourself IS a natural Right and the way that makind has evolved to most effectively ensure that Right is to carry weapons. THAT concept is what is preserved by the 2A (which I fully support, BTW).
The problem isn't that fear or any other emotion is a natural Right (which they are). The problem is that people, both liberal & conservative, use those emotions to trample the Rights of others.
Peoples Rights end where others begin. While anti-gunners have the Right to fear & hate guns (& conservatives have the Right to fear & hate gays) they don't have the right to prevent others from bearing arms for their defense (or prevent others from loving whomever they want).
For the record I AM one of those emotion-spewing liberals (even though my wife would disagree ).
Close.
You DO have the Right to be offended. Just like you have the Right to feel fear, hate, love, happy, comfort, safe, etc.
What you DON'T have is the right to NOT be offended. You can be offended all day long BUT you don't have the right to restrict others Rights because you are.
Again, your Right to be offended stops where others Rights begin.
I think, using the above example again, that conservatives need to be reminded of that as well. If it's wrong for ONE group then it's wrong for ALL groups.
Cmon guys, do you know how often little gas stations and convenient stores are robbed? They only keep one employee usually, and it is one of the most dangerous jobs in this country. You're coming directly from your car, not from a crowded public area, with a gun on your hip. They have no idea if you're going to rob and kill them when you walk in the door.
@ netsecurity
Of course you're correct ..
some people just want to say it's their "right" -
they don't care (probably like) that it scares the sXXX out of an employee.
JMHO - but I don't like open carry - even if it is your right.
