My son texted me this when we were hunting a couple weeks ago. He had this deer at 15 yards for 20 minutes.

I texted him back and asked why he didn’t shoot him. I know I would. He texted back that it was

    1) early in the season

    2) he has three weeks off work the first of November

    3) and he has this bruiser on camera there….

I'm that guy to. I'll let just about anything walk during firearms season. However, during bow I will drop a doe in an instant. I'm more of a trophy hunter myself, but after passing on several deer and ending the season out with all your tags still it kinda sucks.

Small bucks walk regardless around me, unless it is a mature deer that will not be getting any bigger.

Here is a doe he just got on camera. She appears to have some black on her with a lot of white in her head..

    What do you all think?

It's not white on her head, it's the sun shining through the trees. Look closely and you can see the dark spots right under her ears, are the shadow of 2 leaves.

That's not a ghost with a mustache, it's a croc. A really big CROC. With led's in his nose holes.... ~<

I've been told that you should never pass on a deer early on that you would shoot on the last day of hunting season, or you may end the hunting season with empty tags.

I don't have a big issue with ending the season without killing a buck. If I don't have the opportunity to kill what I want, then so be it. I don't look at the $24 dollar license as wasted, because I got to spend all that time hunting (which is really why I buy it in the first place.) I don't have this overwhelming need to kill something just because I bought a license to do it.

    Ditto....

Some of my best seasons is when I did not kill a deer.

BTW - my son wouldn't shoot that buck on the last day. He pretty well has a 140+ standard and sticks to it...
