Nothing wrong with Hi-Point Firearms.
I owned a C9 and it went bang every time and was 100% reliable.
I did a comparison between the C9 and my FM Hi-Power and the Hi-Point had much more felt recoil.
Other than the Felt Recoil issue they are good reliable firearms with a great warranty.
I highly receommend the Hi-Point Carbines.
I own 2 and my wife and I both love these little rifles.
Reliable, Accurate, light, and just plain fun.
Heheheh.... what a load of uninformed gun snobbery!!!
I own two. Usually when you hear the above dribble it comes from people who have never owned or even shot one.
True... they are ugly, clunky, and weird looking. But so are Glocks!!!!
These guns are generally reliable and accurate. They go bang when you pull the trigger and are surprisingly accurate. The worst thing about the High Points (other than the baseless bias you'll run into) is the triggers which are rather crude. No cruder than a S&W Sigma though.
As far as customer service/satisfaction, you'll get no better from ANY firearm manufacturer in the world!!! 100% Lifetime warranty no matter what. Send your gun in and H/P will refurbish it, bring it up to current standards, add a free magazine or two, and send it back to you with their apologies. Heck... they even tell you to send your gun in from time to time just for a full break-down cleaning and lube... all for free!!!

Send me a PM or email if you need anything!!!
Oh.... and all of the above comes from a guy who is fortunate enough to own a variety of guns from "cheap" High Points to to guns that cost ten times as much!!
Ummmmm............... I'm missing the point here I guess.
I do have two HP's
A JH .45, and C9.
They both shoot just fine for my purpose.
I'm aware of the warranty, as the JH has jusy been rebuilt by the factory.
I'm also aware of the forum in the link.
Really not sure how asking an opinion is considered snobbery.
So many people bash what they don't know. These guns are designed for people on a budget. I own a 995 carbine and I own 2 Glocks. Yes, all of them are ugly, but they go bang in the middle of the night. If my budget only afforded me a HP then I would proudly carry one. They go bang and the company backs them up. What else do you need to know?
Well..... the fact that you're using it as a training aid for the "tap, rack, squeeze" drill is cool. Now.... at any time you want it to function correctly just sent it in to H/P and they'll make it right and give you some free mags to boot!!!I have one for training uses so if it jams I get clearance training. The feed ramp is torn up fairly bad. I think if it was polished I wouldn't have many problems with it. As a carry gun hi-points suck. They are heavy, bulky, low capacity, and have mixed reviews about quality. For the same price one could get a decent used shotgun, sks, mosin, revolver, or auto loader.
I would not hesitate to buy the .45 hi-point if I find the right deal on one.
