Not sure where to post my complaint so Ill leave it here and look forward to suggestions. Here comes a book regarding what happened over the last week. I found a seller on ARMSLIST while looking to purchase a Glock 22. I found a guy nearby in Daleville, IN who said he was a police officer and had a Glock 22 and some ammo to sale as a package deal. As all of you know ammo is very hard to find, especially in large quantities. I scheduled to meet him in Daleville at the Pilot truck stop the next day. I met him, looked at the gun and carefully looked at the ammunition. Three 50rd boxes of American Eagle .40 S&W and eight 50rd boxes of Wagner Accuswage reloads. He confirmed all ammunition were reloads but had only been reloaded once. I do not reload, but I know better than to buy reloads.
Upon further review, other than a few dirty looking rounds, all were in good shape without any visual problems. He assured me they were safe as he was the Range master at his range and that these target loads were used every day by him without fault. Me being the wary buyer, I decided to trust him as he was a cop and a range master. Surely a person like that would not seek to harm an innocent fellow shooting enthusiast. I paid in cash without a bill of sale knowing I still had his name, phone number and email address if I encountered any problems. I took the Glcok and box of ammo home, sold the Glock the next day to a friend for a small profit and went straight to Big Daddys Gun Shop in Hagerstown to purchase a brand new FNS40. BTW great service at Big Daddys, its become my only gun shop to go to.
I bring the FNS home, load out with the ammo I bought from the cop in Daleville and the very first shot malfunctioned. It blew a hole in the side of the casing and failed to eject. I realized the problem, cleared the gun and decided it was faulty ammo. While I know it is not common to see in factory ammo it is more common for reloads to malfunction. However, this malfunction actually blew powder and brass shards back into my face. Luckily I was wearing proper hearing and eye protection, otherwise it may have been a more serious problem.
After disassembling and quickly cleaning my gun to inspect for damage, i put it back together and put 6 more rounds downrange. The 7th shot after the first malfunction also stove piped. By this time I had already concluded something was definitely wrong with the ammo. After further investigation this round had actually peeled itself into two, the extractor ejecting the back of the case and primer and the rest of the shell staying in the chamber, stove piping a live round behind it.
After this I completely disassembled the weapon after unloading it and had to use pliers to pull the front half of the casing from the chamber. After more inspection I concluded the gun itself was not harmed after shooting a full mag a new PMC ammo without fault and perfectly on target. I kept the faulty casings and pieces that went with them, and sent a pic and explanation of what had happened to the guy whom I bought the ammunition from. I worded it as kindly as possible and still have yet to hear from him. Iv concluded I am 400$ in the hole with 500+ rounds a .40 S&W that I cannot shoot nor sell. Luckily as stated I was not injured and my gun remains intact but the fact of the matter is that I was sold faulty ammunition from a cop/range master who claimed they were safe and loaded to be shot safely. Somebody could have been injured. What if it were my wife or a friend who had the malfunction and it went really wrong? What if I hadnt been wearing shooters glasses?
My problem and question is now what can I do if I can do anything if this guy doesn't make it right with me? I have his name, phone number, and email address but I do not know for sure what city he serves as a cop, be it Daleville, Muncie, Chesterfield, or Anderson. I have a strong feeling he knew they were bad ammunition and or he simply sold from the armory to make a personal profit. Or maybe he simply made a mistake. Nonetheless, he is still 8 hours past due for a reply to my text. Help me out guys, what can I do? Am I SOL?
