I suggest: take it to a good smith, have him do a function/reliability inspection on it. Then decide if you want to shoot it.
My guess is, its solid enough to go have some enjoyment with it. My M1 Carbine is 70 years old & functions flawlessly!
I know my dad has shot in but that has been a few years. But I hear the hammer spring can break. Right now I have her oiled and on my shelf but if I could find a smith I trusted I would take her in.
