For an internet site, I highly recommend The Belt Man. Gun Belts by The Belt Man

I have one of there bullhide belts and highly recommend it. Soon I'll be ordering a couple more in other colors(have black right now). As far as stores around Indy? I wish I knew.

In the short time I've been on this site (roughly 3 months or so) I've noticed that if it weren't for repeat threads, there would be an awful lot of "stale" here.

That's not a knock on INGO, but there's only so much to talk about.

There's also the possibility the answers in threads he might have already searched didn't cut it and he is looking for different responses...

Or the older threads are outdated...

Or for those of us who haven't really THOUGHT about searching the threads for a gun belt but appreciate the new thread regarding it...

Or any other reason that you are unaware of...

The jist is that mentioning "search" to a newbie with a post count of 7 is one thing, but to mention it to someone who has been on the site for a little while with a significant post count (as the OP has) signals a lack of patience on your part, thus you offered nothing to this thread whatsoever.

In the time it took you to dig up that "search" picture and type your response, you probably could have given the OP some valuable info he could use.

    End thread jack..

I'd like to know what others recommend as well, as there are new members here since the last 'gun belt' thread who might be able to offer some advice (another good reason for starting a new thread, by the way).

such are all forums. there's only so much to talk about. it then just turns into picture threads of _______ porn, whether it be guns, guitars, motorcycles, etc.

i thought about searching first, but i figured it would be a bit more interesting to get new responses. i guess from now on, i wont ask any questions....and when someone asks something, i'll refer them to the Search feature so no one will have repeat themselves.

to those who answered, thank you. the beltman seems like a good way to go.

I've had unusually good luck with my Liger belt. It goes well with my work clothes (khaki and white) and jeans, and it holds like my duty belt does..

Plus (a big plus for me) it doesn't matter if it gets wet!

I've got an Uncle Mike's Instructor that has survived me for a while. the 'Instructor' one is stiff and not just a nylon belt. It holds up my AR and Glock mag holders sturdy enough. 6 AR mags, and 4 G19 mag holders, that is decent weight.

    What's a liger?

It's pretty much my favorite animal. It's like a lion and a tiger mixed... bred for its skills in magic.

+1 for the beltman. I still have one new in the box that I ordered too small.

As for the best. Or none better I hope so because he is isually backlogged and gets Top $ for his great product.

I just ordered from oldfatguy.com a single ply extra heavy harness style belt from him in 1.5 width and 66 inch length. Told me 1 week. I will compare and post pics of the two soon. BTW it was $58 bucks total including shipping compared to @$90 for the beltman.
As long as you wear less than @ 48 there is a site I found that stocks beltman or tuckers under their own private label. Think it was kirkpatrick or some other police supply. Just google search for bullhide gunbelts and it should come up.
If not let me know I will hunt it down.

    Beltman is highly recommended.

I've recently been wearing a 5.11 brown leather casual belt with polymer stiffener, which is very solid, but the finish isn't holding up so well and is prone to scuffs and scratches.

You can always use shoe polish on a belt or holster that gets scratched or scuffed. Even get them re-dyed if need be. As long as you use a good product that won't oil the leather up and make it stretch.
My Galco shoulder Rig(jackass) is so rough and dry on the inside it leaves leather scrapings on my 1911. Gotta get some of their gunslick or something else. It slows the draw down it is so rough.

Exotic skins and leathers are nice also.
I had a pair of dan post cowboy boots made out of wildabeast hide and man if I could get a belt and 1911 rig made out of them I would be really tempted. They wore like iron. Re-dyed them myself had 2 sets of heels replaced and one set of soles, they lasted over ten years kickin round landscaping and tractors. Then I got a pair of south american tiger lizards that felt like slippers and also wore really well. Deerskins though scuffed to highheaven and tore on my brake pecal...

I would get a liger but they don't make one long enough.

Anyone got some info on exotic hides? Maybe I can just buy the hides and send them to the holster guy I choose?
