    Don't forget one hell of a national debt. I wonder what $21+ trillion will look like. Oh, and let's not forget $8 gas and continued unemployment around ~8%. On the plus side, more of us will be on food stamps!

    Who's gonna pay for the food stamps? :dunno:

    Except that New Jersey made put a provision in place so those affected by the hurricane could still vote and extended it until Friday.

    I worry for my kids. :(

    What will their country be like in 10, 20, 40 years?

    A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

    • From bondage to spiritual faith;
    • From spiritual faith to great courage;
    • From courage to liberty;
    • From liberty to abundance;
    • From abundance to complacency;
    • From complacency to apathy;
    • From apathy to dependence;
    • From dependence back into bondage.

    That isn't part of the story that I heard but I wouldn't put it past a news broadcast to only give partial information. I did hear something about if they requested a provisional ballot by 5pm that they'd have until Friday. Also had email voting available along with makeshift polling places in the hard hit areas. New York also set up makeshift polling places for displaced voters.
