So are you seriously saying, that in a section of the site where every 3rd thread is " I got pulled over " or "Cops overstep their authority" etc etc etc....
I am supposed to just assume that a story about police atrocity was posted for merely the historical value?
Just saying, what IMMEDIATLY pops to mind when something like this is posted is INGO's Anti-Police crusade as of late.
Not saying thats your fault at all, but its true at least for me.
Thanks for clarifying.

This thread implies a reasonable question: How far would our police force go if our government became oppressive?
I've heard these threads called "anti-cop." Yes, there are certainly some individual posters who go over the line and are anti-cop.
I'm not anti-cop. I'm anti-bad cops who beat people for retaliation, who beat and arrest people for legally recording them, who are rude and imperious when making traffic stops, who cover for each other when they do wrong, who shoot people during drug raids who aren't shooting at them, or any variety of wrongdoing.
Only an idiot thinks the above applies to all cops. The only thing I look for from the good cops on this forum on those threads is for them to say, "That's bad and they shouldn't do that." Some of them here do that, others are in the same boat as the anti-cop folks, though, because they defend, they wiggle, they attack, they accuse everyone of being anti-cop, they do anything other than say, "Hey, that cop screwed up and we all aren't like that."
Others make the argument that while they may not agree with the law they enforce it. I understand that, and to some degree I sympathize. How far does that go, though? Are you exempt from any law you enforce because it's a law and it's your job? Where that line is drawn is a perfectly reasonable and valuable thing to debate.
There are some anti-cop sentiments posted here sometimes. There are also some copsarealwaysright sentiments posted here.

Repped. Very well stated and thought out. I can tell you this, MY police officers, in the towns that I live and work in, I would trust with my life, buy a beer, and have no issue supporting with my taxes and personal donations, they are quality, standup, respectfull guys who I have had interaction with on both professional and personal levels, as well as on their shooting ranges.
Sometimes, those posters who you have so rightly catagorized as "Anti-Cop" just get old. Its sometimes hard to tell who is who.
Get to know your local police, you might just meet a few good guys to shoot with, ride with, and someday, as much as we like to think we can solve every problem with a gun and not talking to the police EVER EVER EVER....
If a policeman comes to my door after I have had to shoot a home invader, I would much rather be able to say "Larry, glad you are here, its been a bad night, but the wife and kids are safe" than "I WANT MY LAWYER AND HERE ARE MY RIGHTS, I WAS AFRAID FOR MY LIFE".
Just sayin.
Sometimes an advocate in a position of authority is worth having.
Sometimes I think the lesson of the Nazi era has been completely missed by most people. We have relegated the Nazis to some kind of semi-demon status that has no relation to us. We've turned them into zombies or some other kind of creature and the only lesson we get out of it is that maybe we have to fight some foreign evil again, like we did against the Nazis.
The real lesson we should get is that the Nazis were just people. Regular people who got caught up in an ideology, who followed rules over what they should have known to be right, who went along because everyone else did.
Another lesson we should get out of it is that the attempt to shake off moral responsibility because a thing has been made into a law is not acceptable.
Yet another lesson we should get, if we watch what occurred in the occupied countries, is that all the officials, politicians, cops even the dogcatchers, stayed in the their places and helped the Nazi occupiers administrate their occupation.
The most important lesson we should have gotten from the Nazis is that it can happen here.

im surprised you didnt claim it was racist. your OPINION about this SUCKS
It can very easily happen here. Nazi German is one of my favorite studies. Listening to the rhetoric at the time, and what people IN GERMANY were saying, some of that stuff is said today. It started with a simple dislike of situation. The middle class feeling squeezed (anyone know that feeling). Then the upset class started allowing blame to be placed. Fellow citizens with a different idea stopped being citizens, stopped being human, and it became US vs THEM (anyone know a political situation like that). Remember it wasn't the Jews that were targeted first. It was the largest growing political party in Germany at the time, the communists. The communists were not real germans anyway, so it didn't matter what happened to them... Then once one group was removed that was un-German where to go next? It spiraled out of control. It started with a want and desire to see things improve, and a sense of patriotism (nothing wrong with that right). It's very easy to allow our minds to go down that path. It's a perfect example.. love every citizen, every American. Democrats, Republicans, Tea-Parties, and whatevers. You may disagree with them, but once you start truly hating an entire group of people you start heading down the path of the Nazi.
Thanks,
Matthew
