The 700x would not feed consistently enough for me out of my Lymon thrower. So I found some Power Pistol powder to try out, anybody used it to load 115 gr RN Berry plated bullets? I loaded 50 last night at 6 grains. Hope to shoot some tomorrow and see how they perform
I have loaded 115 gr Berrys and 124 gr Berrys with Power Pistol and everything worked good. I have also loaded 700X and ran thru XDS 9 with no issues, just a real pain to get the 700X to meter. I would say that 6 gr of Power Pistol should cycle just fine.
I was just thinking of trying to find some 700X.
I haven't tried it yet, and I've read before that flake powders don't measure well, but I've metered Red and Green Dot through my Lee Perfect Powder Measure and I've done o.k.
Power pistol is ok, but will make a good fireball.
I like the new CFE Pistol, Winchester 231, and titegroup
The nice thing about Power Pistol is the wide range in weight from low to max.
If you are a lcouple tenths off, it's not as critical as with other powders
I shot power pistol using 115 gr. bullets. I felt the recoil was unpleasant and, as mentioned, there was quite a bit of muzzle flash. I definitely would not go over the 6.0 grain load you mention. I loaded up to 6.5 grains once and stopped shooting them after firing 10 rounds as I felt the round might be unsafe. I did not chronograph the load but 6.5 grains will definitely keep you from dozing off ! !
A friend of mine has found one of the softest shooting loads I've encountered. Try 3.5 grains of Titegroup and a 134 gr. bullet. Very soft shooting, limited muzzle flip, and cycles my Glock 34, Springfield XDM 5.25, Ruger lc9pro, and my Glock 26 with no problems.
Without knowing what your objective for loads are I will disclose I am using the load for IDPA and USPSA competitions where a second shot is important and reduced muzzle flip is a real benefit. I wouldn't recommend this load as a self defense load but for paper punching it's the best recipe I've found to date. As always, confirm this load using appropriate manuals and weigh the charges as you feel appropriate.
I shot the Power Pistol loads today out of Walther PPS, 92FS and a XDM 5.25 they all performed well. Did not seem to be overly abusive and accuracy was good, loaded another 250 rounds tonight. The last time I loaded 9mm I had trouble withthem feeding in my PPS, I reduced the COL to 1.138 this time, these are feeding fine now. Thanks for the feed back guys
If you're firing at less than 50 yards and NOT at max load, 700X metered to +/- 0.2gn will still give great accuracy (if it will be accurate with even exactly weighed charges).
PP is the most accurate powder I have found for 9x19, followed by Silhouette and True Blue.
I am not a fan of TiteGroup, but it about the only fast powder that shows any real accuracy in 9x19.
