Full sun, for the most part dark brown dirt, native Plants seem to thrive out there.Sunny or shady?
Sand or clay
I was thinking more along the lines of wheat, corn, tomatoes etc.One of the plots I set out is annual, I just buy the mixed bird seed at the store every year, run the tiller through the area, spread straw over the seed.
It’s dry now and will stay that way till next winter, that’s our rainy season. Rye would be appealing as we can born it in our multi fuel stove.Alsike Clover or brassica mix , had good luck with this on a river flood zone.
If you are looking for grains rye and wheat although you may have bare spots if you have standing water, especially early.
If you're thinking fuel instead of animals Oats could probably work also. It’s dry now and will stay that way till next winter, that’s our rainy season. Rye would be appealing as we can born it in our multi fuel stove.
Ideally I would like to up our produce production, given where things are right now.If you're thinking fuel instead of animals Oats could probably work also.
Oh, that sounds like some real flood waters there. Maybe mix some radishes in to help fight compaction and erosion with the water, also adds bacteria which the flood waters remove. Good luckIdeally I would like to up our produce production, given where things are right now.
i am sure rye would make some awesome bread.
my main thing is I just do not like having wasted area on the property. If it were not for the flood waters taking down my fence every year, I would have the goats graze out there.
I would get them started by end of the month. That way if some dont germinate you'll be ok to try starting some more seeds without being to late. What is the recommended time for starting tomatoe seeds 6 weeks? No greenhouse
I started mine last weekend. Keep hoping things will sprout (gotta give time). Started sweet potato as well. Might be late on those. What is the recommended time for starting tomatoe seeds 6 weeks? No greenhouse
Don't know where you are located, but there are onions out there. Locally in Btown, I've been to May's Greenhouse twice.Transplanted rhubarb to permanent home. Planted new black raspberries that were ordered last fall. Can not find onion sets to plant anywhere yet. Itching to get going on anything else.
East of Ft Wayne. Have to try some of the other local Amish greenhouses. The 2 near me say everything is coming in later than promised.Don't know where you are located, but there are onions out there. Locally in Btown, I've been to May's Greenhouse twice.
On my second batch of Candy and Candy Red's. I'm sticking onions everywhere that has an empty spot.
Sadly, May's has been out of broccoli and cauliflower though.
