Does anyone know, if I am watching a channel on DirecTV (AT&T) do they know that? Does it go toward channel ratings?
Yes. They all do. Cable. Streaming. Satellite. Free air was the only one where they had to rely only on ratings.Does anyone know, if I am watching a channel on DirecTV (AT&T) do they know that? Does it go toward channel ratings?

Is your receiver connected to a phone line or internet line or WiFi?
EDIT:
It used to be that the receiver was just that - a receiver. A phone line was required for it to phone the mothership and let them know if you watched any PPV content.
But, I haven't had a satellite TV setup for over a decade; it's probably changed. The last service I had was FIOS.
Now I have Netflix, which knows everything I (well, mostly my wife) watches.
I refuse to connect my TV to the internet.
They all must have had the same thoughts at random!
Weird!
Only strange because we don't usually see newscasts from different localities lined up like that. I bet it happens a lot more than you would think.Wow. Normally, they alter the words or ad-lib a little. Strange to see them all parroting the same lines nearly in synchronicity.
