I'm going to Fiji diving next year. Found out, the resort offers a wild hog hunt. I'M IN! It's spears and knives only. No firearms on the island. How freaking cool will that be!? Dive a couple days, hog hunt a couple.
I'll be going hog hunting in the spring. Looking to take one or two 6.5 Grendel rifle. Possibly also a 7.62x39 rifle and a 5.56 rifle. From everything I can tell, a 5.56 is plenty of gun for a hog.
If you have an AR that has fast enough twist for a 70gr bullet, take an AR.
Forget hunting hogs for sport. Think of it as population control and public service.
Kill every single one you see. Trust me, they are NOT in danger of population shortage, and probably never will be.

I've hog hunted in Florida before down between Tampa and Orlando. My buddy is actually one of the guides for a hunting outfit there, so I hunt for free. I've seen guys take them with anything from .223, any of the bolt action rifle rounds, compound bow, crossbow, use dogs and a big blade, stalk them, shoot from tree stands. The options are pretty limitless. The first one I ever took was done just stalking them and took about a 20 yard shot with a .357 ruger blackhawk on a hog that turned up a trail directly towards me.
It's an absolute blast any way you cut it.
