We have this fawn about a week old we have seen nursing by our home. The mother beds it down in the area. Have seen them on the trail camera, and another mother with two fawns. And 5 different bucks in a half hour timeframe.
I had one running out in the corn ,then back in the woods 4 times. No camera, just the .243 in case a coyote was flushing it out. Glad not to see any chasers.
We always have a set of twins. Saw them bedded down in our pasture yesterday. I was picking up round bales and mom came and got them
Last year a fawn would end up with the horses and graze with them. Grandkids love when they come up towards the house
I've only seen singles on my trail cams, but my SIL who lives on property that adjoins ours said they had a set of triplets walk through their yard the other day with their mama.
This reminds me of a story from decades back. It had been a pleasant night so I was sleeping with the windows open and I woke up to noise outside the window. I looked out to see twin fawns. My first thought was to wonder if they would listen if I talked to them, so I tried it, and they just stood there listening as I talked to them. All of a sudden, there was an extremely harsh grunt from the woods and the fawns turned and burned. My guess is that mom got on them about talking to strangers.
This also got me to thinking about another fawn from decades past who inspired some pleasant dreams, but that goes in a different thread.
Saw a doe and her little twins yesterday at my grandparent's house. She was running through an open pasture just after lunch, toward some woods in the back of the field.
Strange to see that during the day.
