You should now buy a fist full of PSA stripped lower blems and throw them in your safe for when the prices go through the roof. I'm sure they'll lay there as planned and not turn into other versions of ARs you never planned to build.

Believe me, I am very seriously considering that! And of course they would just set there....heck, I bet I'd forget all about them until they were covered in cobwebs and dust bunnies ;)

I'll fess up as well. I scored some black Friday deals at PSA and built my first one as well. My first AR as well.
DustyDawg and I know each other, I blame him for the new AR, and he blames me for his. ;)
    Anyway:
    Anderson Lower from PSA-$49
PSA complete upper with BCG $279.
PSA lower parts kit with grip I didn't use $29.
Magpul parts and buffer tube various websites. $100.
Total $460 not including shipping or FFL.

Been to the range with it 3 times now, and VERY pleased with it. Very easy to do if you have the least amount of mechanical inclinations.

I used this guide: :: Guides
as well as one or two Youtube vids. Take your time to understand what the parts do, and it's easy. I spent more time making sure everything had a good coat of CLP on it, then I did building. I spent 5 minutes polishing the mating surfaces on the trigger and hammer with a Dremel and flitz metal polish, and very happy with the trigger pull.

Now it's time for the expensive part.. The optic..

Honestly, that right there is what has kept me from really doing a ton of rifle shooting of any kind. I have a fantastic shooter in my Savage bolt-action .22 and it has a decent scope but it could be better.

With this AR I'd like to keep it as simple, dare I say Glock-like, as possible. Aimpoint and EOTech are always on the table but I can't quite yet justify dropping 5 bills on an optic just yet. I'll probably keep the irons as my primary for a while and read reviews on the sub-$250 red dots and holographic sights and see how it all pans out.
