After taking a carbine class with a friends AK, I now know I am going to buy an AR. So, what is y'alls round of choice in your AR's and why did you choose it? Thanks

6.5 MPC because everyone has a 223 and I like to be different. It uses 223 brass and magazines and all I had to buy was a barrel and dies from SSK Industries.

I only buy 5.56 AR-15's. I tried a 6.8mm when they first came out, but I was less then impressed. In my 5.56's I only run brass cased ammo. I know the steel stuff is just fine, I just prefer to run mine with handloaded ammo. In my case I handloaded a bunch of 62gr fmj surplus some time ago and have been working off of that supply for a while now. Once that's used up I'm going to be switching to the 55gr hornady FMJ as it seems to be the standard all 55gr FMJ's are judged by. When I want accuracy, I handload 69gr sierra matchkings. Hopefully that helps.

If Im only going to have one its gonna be in 5.56, due to ammo availability and different ammo choices. Plus it will do anything Id ever need it to do. But with that being said I really like my Ar10 platform rifle in 308:D

Preferred caliber now: 5.45x39 (because it is still relatively cheap and available)
Preferred caliber for most tactical applications: 5.56x45
Preferred caliber for suppressor use: .22lr
Preferred caliber for irritating the guy next to me at the range: 7.62x39

I just like my reloads with 55grn for plinking, I have some 69grn match ammo that shoots well. But my favorite are the 62grn steel core penetrators I purchased about a year or two before all the madness happened. All in .223 caliber with the Penetrators being Nato spec 5.56

I like 5.56 because it can also fire .223. I really want to get an AR 10 also but the price is pretty high. Maybe around tax refund time.

I enjoy shooting 5.56. But it just doesn't put a smile on my face like my .458 SOCOM, that is, until I start hearing the cha-ching of a cash register going off in my head every time I pull the trigger. Then I stop and think, do my kids really need to go to college? Nah, then I go back to shooting.:D

.223 stoked with 23.5 gr varget pushing a 77 gr Sierra MatchKing. It will hold good scores out to 600 yards. I think that is about the max you can reliably wring out of the AR with long lasting dependablity. If I need a more powerful round, I use a bigger caliber rifle.

    5.56; I keep it "OG."

300 AAC BLK is becoming increasingly tempting to me, though... I've been window shipping for barrels, don't tell my fiancé! Haha
