The argument used to have me swayed toward the 45ACP side of the argument (and I still think it is an excellent choice for serious self defence), but after many hours of reading the different arguments, researching the various arguments, and talking to people who have first hand experience with the different calibres, I have come to feel that ANY of the common calibres available in a load from a reputable ammunition supplier will do the job as long as we do our part. 2 COM + 1 CNS hits with either one of these rounds should put just about anyone down in a hurry.

I really do love both of the rounds. 45 is my passion, but 9mm is fun to shoot as well. Simple solution : Get a commander size 1911 as a primary carry, and get whatever 9mm you want as a backup. Carry both. That way, you can test out your theories "in the field". (Or grab a CZ-75B for a primary and an XDs as a backup. Whatever floats your sea pickle)

Most Police agencies went away from the 9mm. Case closed. IMO
