Thanks for the pics Greg. I have been watching the forecast with my fingers crossed. Forecast looks slightly better up at Kankakee than it does in the Indy area.
We didn't get into the field we wanted so tried a new one at Winamac.
Pretty well drenched by 2pm, we packed it in.
Of course now the weather looks way better.
My stats for the 2 hrs............
Birds shot at= 14
Total number of shots= 17 (shot at 3 birds twice each- one was hit twice)
Birds downed= 8 (couldn't find 2 of them).
So brought home 6, out of 17 shells (no cherry picking). Tolerable. Had a great time just getting out. Pouring water from my gun repeatedly, not so cool, but there were birds about.
Used my 870 Supermag turkey gun, 23" bbl with Mod Remchoke, and #6 steel. Not the ideal setup but it works.
Now to dry all my crap and get my gun cleaned/oiled up.
My buddy and I killed our limits at Roush FWA today. We got sprinkled on but not the heavy rain predicted by the weather man. I don't think everyone else did as well as we did though.
I used my 870 Express with #7 steel. We had one mojo decoy and a couple others on a home made dove tree. Good fun was had by all.
We did not receive any rain up north at Pigeon River but there were not that many doves either. Come back and have been killing them every day. This weekend should be good nother cold front up north. Birds should be moving
This weekend was pretty good hunting. Went after work both days and got 7 last night and 9 tonight. get the jalapenos and bacon ready. Hope to get out this week some too.
