If I were to put 10 different 1911's on the table, blindfolded you, could you pick out the top to bottom by feel?

What I really want to know is, what is the real difference between a ria and a kimber, or colt, or another top end gun?

What makes the higher end guns, higher end?

well first the rattle of them. some cheap 1911's make noise. but the real question is how they perform. u cant see the quality internals blind folded. but i guess to answer your question. all 1911 should feel similar to the same. thats why they r 1911s. unless u throw a kimber polymer frame or double stack para 1911 in there. now if u shoot them blind folded. u can tell by feel. then u can really notice the 500-1500+ difference. if u want to try a couple 1911s let me know. not to far away

Rattle?...I might have to disagree with you there....My custom shop colt rattles like a baby with a set of keys.

The $400 American Classic II I had was as tight as a drum.

But the difference was the finish, function, and PARTS.

My colt has a forged frame/alloy slide, tight sear notches, millet sights, DEEP blue finish, bull barrel, and a great feed ramp.

The American classic II, was a decent gun, however, it had a cast frame/slide, play in the sear notches, a creeping/notchy trigger, Iffy Finish, Bastard sight dovetails, and a rough feed ramp.

The American classic was a good gun for the money, and I would buy another one, but its trumped overall by a gun that cost 3 times as much.

Blindfolded, the colt would rattle though, and the American classic would be quiet.

    God bless
