    Hey INGO,

Anyone have any experience or ideas of costs of work on a deck?

We have a basic 10x14 deck. It has some pretry rough spots, so instead of just replacing a few boards, we decided that we may be interested in redoing all the decking and possibly expanding it out. Nothing fancy.

Ive got a contractor coming next week to give us an estimate.

Anyone have experience or insight on a ballpark figure of what we may be looking at? Trying to determine if my time saved is worth enough to hire it out.

Treated deck, all new......with treated balusters, and deck board or 2x6 handrails........around $12 per square foot. Here is one I just did....everything replaced except floor joist and 3 posts in front.

Thanks for for the information - very helpful. To confirm the, $12 sq ft includes labor and materials?

Im in northwestern Illinois, so not sure of any labor cost variables.

A suggestion? Use the synthetic boards that do not require hold down clips. You can have the frame set up by a carpenter with treated lumber and just screw down the "boards" yourself. Hint. Look on ebay for seconds or smaller lots. I found a batch West of Chicago for about 40% of new. Your net cost will be double.....but you will never have to do it again. Did a 1000 sq ft. wrap around five years ago. Looks like the day I put it down.
