Is my gun's identity in jeopardy?
I think some people do to prevent the very unlikely event that someone sees the picture, then reports that a gun with that number was stolen from them, and that you have it. Small chance it could happen, and even smaller chance that you could be contacted about that gun, but it could happen.
There are a lot of people that read gun forums very closely looking for nefarious behavior, and others that read very closely and try to take advantage of what others have posted. To some it just isn't worth the risk.
Yes, unless you have your tin foil hat on.
crap, does anyone have some tin foil i can barrow? I dont have enough to cover my large head
I don't cover it up, I just take a picture of the other side of the gun.
I take the time to photoshop some of my favorite obscenities in place of the serial number. While wearing my tinfoil hat, of course.
... If you bought it you should have proof of that. Even from a private sale.
Same here. I tried Titanium, but I kept getting a headache trying to mold it to my head.
Wonder where exactly this does fall legally?
If you have no proof and someone claims it is theirs and they have proof, Bye.
If it's not theirs, they wouldn't have "proof".
