I can't stand ANY of the crap they try to pawn off as country music nowadays.:puke:

I am, however, guilty of watching Carrie Underwood's performance while the volume was muted.:baby:

You gotta remember.... it's not about the music anymore. It's all about the $$$. There is 99% crap in every genre. I listen to most everything, and it is all junk anymore.

It's not country music, it's a hybrid of country and pop. When they combined the genres, the pop audience became fans of the new country, and the $$$ came. It's all about the image.
I'll go further back, I miss singers like Patsy Cline.

George Jones made the news a week or two ago saying the same thing. He said most of this is not country. Now the old possum was country. I listen to mostly bluegrass now. I stopped listening to country music probably 25 years ago when everyone got so danged pretty.

This is why I gritted my teeth and paid for satellite radio. Bluegrass, old-time country, and I can hear it wherever I'm at. I even bought a home docking kit to tie into my home theater system. Ralph Stanley in 7.1 is like sitting in the front row at the Ryman.

im not a country music fan but heres my take on things. music evolves. there is some country music that has taken inspiration from classical music. there is some classic rock that has taken inspiration from country and so on. music changes throughout the years and thats how it is. i dont think its a bad thing. its just what it is.

what i dont get is the fact that there only seems to be "a country station" per city.

take rock and or roll for instance. if i want 50s-60s i tune into oldies, 70s-80s a classic rock station 00-09 new alternative station. (notice 90s-00 is missing) somewhat hard to find, not new enough to be "cool" not old enough to be classic rock. anyways, i can tune into the station i want to listen to.
country music seems that they only have one station in each city to play 40s-09 country music. and yes, the older stuff usually gets pushed aside. i think that sucks for you guys. it should be seperated out to get a clearer demographic and until then, i can totally see why you guys would get xm radio or buy itunes. i dont know why they dont have like an "oldies country" station playing king of the road. but they should. im assuming there is not enough money in it. but if you guys are going elsewhere to get satelite radio and itunes, there seems to be an opportunity there.

As far as I know, Country Stations dominate the airwaves around here. :dunno: I can tune into about 3 just here in Indy that I know of. Go farther South or North from indy and the Country selection doubles and triples... :dunno:
