Thursday is the deadline to get a committee vote on this. If it's not brought up by then it's DOA. If you haven't called or written your reps yet then now would be the time.
I just sent an e-mail downrange.

With 30,000+ members, if every INGO member sent an email we'd be pretty hard to ignore. Sadly, I doubt more than 2-3% will actually take action.
I wonder how many of the 38,000 INGO members even support it. It might not be as many as we would assume.

This, unfortunately, is a very good point.
I talked to my Rep yesterday. I mentioned this bill and he said something to the effect of "Lucas' bills are going nowhere this session."

Just got off the phone with mine...same message but he's going to check and see what he can do anyway. He said there are too many cowards in Indy.
I am writing you as a lawful gun owner who supports 2 Pro 2A Bills. At this point, all I ask is they be granted hearing in the house before the deadline tomorrow. HB1055 and 1056 are very important bills to gun owners in this state that have been ignored since being submitted by Jim Lucas. Last year, a couple of good bills were submitted but were swept under the rug as the IGA ran headlong in to the RFRA debate which you ended up cowering on when a vocal minority screamed too loud. If you weren't going to stand behind your vote, why did you waste time on it in the first place.
On the firearms bills, better worded as the Pro-2nd Amendment bills, you have continued to stonewall them for the last 2 sessions. You take the 2nd Amendment crowd for granted as you 'assume' we're just going to dutifully check the 'R' column every November. I am done doing that. I do not agree with your take and what you've done to education and educators in the state of Indiana. Now you're ignoring the 2nd Amendment supporters as you carry out your agendas is enough to drive me away.
Will I check the 'D' box. No, but I will leave your box blank, which you and I both know is as good as a vote for a D. Will this hurt the 2nd Amendment rights in the future? It may, but if my elected representatives refuse to listen and at least give bills an up/down vote in committee that I see as important, all I can do is vote 'enough of being taken for granted'.
I will be sending this same message to Governor Pence who showed up at the Indy 1500 for his dutiful photo op to appear pro 2A, but in reality he was just pandering while showing no leadership on the topic where it counted...from his desk in the capital.
Sincerely

Dear Rep. Dermody,
I have received advice over the years that when contacting legislators, one should be polite and civil. In most cases, I have done so. With you, however, this approach has not been of any discernible benefit.
Given that fact, I have to take the gloves off and ask this question directly and bluntly: WTF?
Fact: Rep. Lucas' bills are before your committee.
Fact: You carry an "A" rating from the NRA.
Fact: In the last three years, you have for the most part refused to hear his bills to improve firearm laws in Indiana.
I recognize that you are leaving the House, and especially considering that I'm not in your district, you probably don't care what I and many Hoosiers think. Further, I suspect that you're just going to let his bills die yet again.
What I'm wondering is how you can accept that "A" rating and the praise of conservatives and still look yourself in the mirror.
Maybe, just maybe, Indiana will get someone with the stones to at least give good bills a hearing in committee, rather than run scared at the mere suggestion that the people might lawfully exercise their natural rights.
I'm quite certain the Brady Campaign and all the anti-gun rights liberals in the state will laud you as a hero. I have little doubt that you will read this and laugh all the way to the bank. Regardless, you should be ashamed of yourself.
I think NRA members need to start pressing the NRA to stop giving these politicians these good ratings when it is clear they do not deserve it.
