I think I may have posted that at the same time my family got covid, our church secretary got it too. She was recently retired only a couple of years. She passed away last week from it because she had several comorbidities such as lupus. We had her funeral yesterday and it was beautiful.
While she was in ICU her adult son Josh who has always considered himself an atheist, saw God's healing power early on and confessed to her that he now believes. This was when she rebounded and it looked like she was going to make it. Her husband Ted also had started coming to church after she was miraculously cured of cancer last year. Like, "we see the tumor, and we need to operate because its aggressive and growing like crazy." They got in there 2 weeks later and it was gone. Nothing to remove. It just up and blew away like a fart in the wind. Her husband Ted had a bad experience in his youth and he never wanted to come to church. But after seeing our love and His healing power, he realized he just had a bad experience and started coming with her to church.
I was REALLY worried her loss would devastate Josh and drive him back away out of spite due to losing his mom like this. Mrs Monkey and I were praying for him nightly.
He spoke at the funeral and it was clear he was wise beyond his years and that this hadnt soured his new relationship with God. I forget what he said, but when he did, my wife and I both shot a look at each other with tears in our eyes. He is still on the right track. Praise Jesus.
He asked the pastor last night at the dinner what he could to to help out. She said we had lots of stuff to move to prep the stage for the Christmas Eve service. So he came by tonight and helped.
Then after he was done helping move, I overheard him asking about being baptized and even possibly joining the church and exactly what was involved and what the difference would be. Just like the Grinch, my heart grew 3 sizes.
A half hour later Ted showed up to help however he could and found out his son had scooped him.
People ask why God takes away good people too soon. I am starting to understand he's got bigger plans we just dont understand. She's with him (deservedly) and now we have two new followers that wouldnt be here without her.
So please lift up Ted and Josh in your prayers to help comfort them and guide them along in their new journeys of faith with us.
