Anyone have any experience with chest holsters for large frame revolvers. I’ve got a Taurus 44ss4 and am thinking a chest rig would work well while hunting or in the woods in general. Thoughts???
I recently bought a chest pack from Hill People Gear. Original Kit bag Version 2. It has a pocket for a firearm and my Glock 40 MOS with optic fits easily. Quality made product and works well for me to carry concealed but at the ready. There are video reviews on YouTube. https://hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/1/ProductID/71
I have a couple of the hill people gear chest packs for hunting, hiking and outdoor work. They are great high quality, Highly recommend them. The gunfighters inc Kenai chest holster is also great, very comfortable and high quality.
Love my Heavy Recon from HPG, but you’re probably looking at something more along the lines of Kenai holsters, or Galco has, or had one as well. The Galco one’s name escapes me.
I bought a new nylon rig from evilBay for my Glock 21 and 4" 44. Both fit in one holster. All American material, fasteners and webbing. Top notch stitching. YMMV.
To elaborate more. My Kenai chest holster is used with a 3” GP100. It carries the weight really well.
From Hill People Gear, I have a V3 SAR chest pack for hunting. This is the large footprint.
I also have a Recon kit bag for hiking with the revolver and yard chores. This is a large foot print.
My main hiking bag is an Original pattern snubby kit bag, that is a smaller footprint and carries my Glock 43X.
All of these bags are set up with first aid supplies, reload, a snack and knife.
Glad to find this post. I recently purchased a Ruger Super Redhawk 7.5" 44 mag. I think a standard holster would be a pain so I started looking for a chest holster. I found this one and I plan on buying one. I hope I'm happy with how it works. I'm not a big dude but someone else said this is the best option.
