Went there on the 3rd with my wife, daughter her boyfriend and a friend of theirs. Decided to OC in the mall. Was in the mall for about an hour before mall cop noticed and decides to "call it in". I was looking at a sleep comfort brochure when an IPD officer slides up and says "Sir I need to you keep you hands where they are and follow me". Ok, no worries. I end up in a service hallway with a total of 4 FOE. After a couple minutes they bring in another guy who was OC that day, he has a baby with him that looked to be a couple months old.
Head FOE takes my gun, and my license to call it in. Tells me that this is private property and that I can't OC in the mall. I responded with the I didn't see any posting as I entered about no firearms, if I had I would have concealed it. As this was a school or government building I could OC. FOE states there is signage at the entrance, both myself and the other guy state we did not see any sign, else we would not be walking around OC. FOE states we shouldn't OC because it makes people "nervous". Long and short of the story is we are escorted back to our cars. On the way out I chat with the officer about the situation, honestly he seemed a bit embarrassed but nice enough We leave out Sears south entrance and I look around at the wall and doors. I asked the officer if he noticed any signage, his reply was no. I asked him if he thought how this played out was wrong, policy was the response.
On the way out I told the FOE that I had 2 young men, gangbangers, stare me down and grab their waistbands. That is why I carry.
So, I managed to make my daughters birthday out memorable, dinner at the Cheesecake Factory was great.
