I revieved a REAL Winchester model 1887 lever action 12,
was wondering if anyone can give me an idea what its value is? Its in fairly great condition, just doesnt have the original butt plate.. Thanks alot!
Believe it was re-blued but not sure if it was it was over 20 years ago, just 2 small dents on the magazine tube above grip, and few blemishes on stock,
Probably not much help but I just lost a Winchester 1887 (though they advertised it as an 1888?) in pretty rough condition at a local auction for $650. This auction accepted on-site, internet and pre-reserve bidding could be set up with the local gun store doing the FFL transfers for the auction.
Have to say yours is beyond beautiful, I'm a bit jealous you have such a piece!
Personally, I've toyed with the idea, in the past, of buying one of the Norinco clones of the 1887. They just look so freaking cool - and would be kind of nifty/handy to have around. Especially if you spend a little time dressing them up a little.
But I haven't ever done it, and probably won't. There seems to be an aire of potential unreliability on the Norincos...coupled with a lack of aftermarket support should something need replaced.
