My dad had this happen not to long ago on a new truck he bought. It was all well and good and nothing bad happened until the first service. The dealer, without telling my dad, installed some update to the computer system and after that the truck would do exactly as you stated. It would not rev over 2k and would take a loooong time to accelerate. After several trips back to the dealer they finally told him about the update and said it was a factory directed modification to improve fuel economy. But it really screwed up my dad's truck. They claimed they couldn't undo the modification but did install a new ECU that was "clean" and that seemed to fix the issue. Still though my dad traded the truck in a few months later for a different brand.

I hope you can get it straightened out. Sounds like a real PITA.

Ford did something like that with the 6.0 diesels. They took out some hp to
attempt to make the head gaskets last longer

If you financed it call the Bank, quickest cure.

What's the bank supposed to do? OP signed a contract to pay X number of payments to the bank which holds the title until the loan is paid. I doubt that anything in the loan agreement says "call us if you have problems with the car".

All ODBI vehicles have a limp mode, a new car will definitely have this. Most enter limp mode when there is a communication failure between the ECM and the Vehicle speed sensor. When it was stuck in limp mode did the speedometer work? Most dealerships will swap out the VSS but not do a continuity test on the wiring harness. If there is a broken or pinched wire in the loom it can show up erratically.

The bank could care less they will get their money from you one way or another. ..

In my case they got the dealer to take the car back, plus get back my trade in they had already sold. Banks have all the power, no dealer wants on a banks black list.

One of my vehicles has Traction Control. I found this winter that if a tire spins the RPMs drop and the vehicle will barely move. RPMs are limited and it's almost got me hit twice. I finally turned it off until bad weather hits again. I won't use it IF I don't need it. I will say GM though.
What cave have you been living in? There are many makes and models out there that have traction control or a version of it. My Government Issue 2012 Dodge Ram 4x4 has it, so does both 2003 Tahoes in my driveway and some motorcycles even have it.

I have traction control on 3 of my vehicles. The GM is the only one that scares me to death like that. My Grand Cherokee (very similar to your Dodge) is a good system that's not near as radical as the GM.

I bought a new car just over a year ago, and it came with free rental, as yours SHOULD have. I'd leave it with the dealer and ride in my new shiny rental (changing cars about once a week, just for fun!) until the problem was absolutely fixed.

Of course, I'm also likely, after a few weeks, to start renting Lamborghinis and Bentleys just to 'prod' the manufacturer into moving a bit quicker. I have NO problem spending $1500 - $2000 a day of their money, LOL.

I can't imagine there is not a low limit placed on the rental car allowance...
