I have to say, it’s easy enough just to run it through a few times and call it good enough.
Use them at the range when I need to clean up a barrel that's starting to lose accuracy. Or when I'm breaking in a new barrel.Useful or not so much? I never really thought about using them before especially for handguns, but I must say the idea does, sound appealing.

My 10/22 will start spreading out around 300-400rds shot through it. For instance with Eley force it shoots around .75" avg 10 shot group. However, after about 300-400rds it will open to around 1" to 1.25" 10 shot groups. Is that about the normal for the 10/22?
Stock thin barrel Walmart special from 1997 50yds out..
- You did not mention the distance for your groups.
- Is that an original Ruger barrel or aftermarket?
I have not noticed that happening with my rimfire rifles, but rimfire rifles are all different. Condition of bore and ammo lube are major reasons the bore could foul bad enough to degrade accuracy after a few thousand shots. Bad cleaning techniques can also contribute to bore problems that could cause bad fouling. Not sure if any of those are causing your issues, but those are what I would look at first.
