You switched from a level 2/3 holster to a level 1? Seriously? Before I switched to the Raven holster, I've been using the Serpa holster for a good year. I switched to the Raven because it holds the gun extremely closer to the body
I absolutely LOVE my ALS on my duty rig. Best duty available. I see some new Officers for a local department that use the Serpa on their duty belt. They have to buy their own so they go cheap...ugh.I would get a Safariland ALS if they make one for your carry piece. They don't make them for everything.

If you're crooking your finger to actuate the release on a Serpa,
YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG!
Finger is straight until you have a sight picture. Period. When your sidearm clears the holster, there shouldn't be enough force on your finger to even over-shoot the release and enter the trigger guard, let alone actuate the trigger itself. It should be riding right along the side of the frame as nature intended.
If ND from doing what Tex did is a concern of yours, find yourself a trainer familiar with the Serpa and train, train, train... With Snap-Caps in the gun, of course.
