If I ate sweets, I'd be all in on all three (Circus Peanuts, Black Licorice and Candy Corn).
I have to admit that it mainly based upon nostalgia. My grandparents on my Dad's side always had Circus Peanuts (and French burnt peanuts). My grandparents on the other side always brought out the candy corn/peanuts mix on Thanksgiving and Christmas and my Dad was a big fan of black licorice. I have to believe the few treats available during the Depression has a lot to do with the loyalty to these. Again, nostalgia.
Are there better candies? I guess, but I would enjoy all 3 and the black licorice is the only one I break my no-sugar rule for on special occasions. To be clear, I like black licorice- not black licorice flavored other stuff.
