Look into the Mueller APV. Fantastic scope for the money.
Don't forget to include GOOD RINGS / Mounts into your budget.

Sorry about the misspelling Alan!
I am basically looking to make a fun plinking rifle. I have never hunted but it would be fun to try it this year and will probably use for that as well.
I am looking for a nice scope for my 10/22. I would like to keep it under 200 and would like to have around 4x zoom.
It will mostly be for shooting soda cans in fields and the occasional squirrel out too 100 yards or so
Thanks again for all the responses

Who shoots squirrels at 100yds or so???

What would you recommend for target shooting. I do most of my shooting at 50 yds or less but would like to start doing some hundred yard plus.
Last fall, I was having to hold 8" high to hit the bullseye. I would like something that I could zero at 50 then either have some type of marks or adjustments that would allow me to quickly adjust to the longer ranges without having to set up targets with the hold over on them.
I bought a nice red field that has good, clear glass , but the cross hairs are a combo cross with a dot and circle. It is great for hunting as the circle/cross hairs seem to line up on game really well. The trouble with that is it covers the bullseye up to the point of not being able to see the holes. I think something with a finer cross would be better.
I am also wondering what power would be good out to 100 yds. (Old eyes with glasses) I own a higher power inexpensive scope on my .223 and once I get up there in power, (6 - 24 x 44) I am losing quality and increase eye strain.
I stayed with a 44 objective to keep the profile lower on the rifle. Plus I had a PEPR mount that I liked and was worried that I wouldn't have enough clearance.
I appreciate any input you might have. Not quite savvy enough yet with the terminology, so anything you can elabotrate on would be appreciated.
Depending on the glass, which rings do you recommend?
