never shot a ruger 77 but i can tell you from shooting several different 44s over the years that no 2 guns even if they are the same make and model will shoot the same with the same ammo. have 2 629 revolvers that do not like the same loads. my sons ruger hunter does not like either load from the 629s. my nephew and a friend of mine have h&r 44 handi rifles that like a different load also. so if you owned all the above guns and wanted them to shoot the best groups possible from you would have to have 5 different loads. now with that being said the one load that has shot decent groups with all the guns (have not ran it thru the ruger yet)has been a handloaded hornady 300 grain xtp over h110. the h&rs shot 1 hole 3 shot groups at 50yards.

The Ruger 77 44's barrel is a 1 to 20 twist which I have heard handles lighter grain bullets the best. Another member of INGO said his friend held some pretty tight groups with the Hornady Leverevolution 225 gr rounds which are great for accuracy and white tail as well. I special ordered my 77 44 and am waiting for it to arrive so that I can take it to the range and run some rounds through it. Let me know what type of rounds you have luck with.

The evolutions are the best by far. I have had some great groups at 200 yards and one ragged hole at 100.

I'm using the Hornady 225 leverevolution,

    Reasons
Great performance on deer for the last couple years
    Accuracy, getting 1 1/4 +or - at 100
Functions well with iffy magazine I have for my 77/44,

Only November will tell me if my way is the right way
