    Most versatile is the shotgun. The AR platfrom is also a good option for CQC to further out ranges and you can carry more ammo. Nothing wrong with a 30-30 or such either. Alot depends upon your skill set and training. A WWII vet with a garand is gonna be your worst nightmare when compared to some wanna be mall ninja with a ______ (insert Glock, AK, whatever). Same way you take one of you local hill billy good old boys with his deer gun or squirrel rifle on his 'back 40' and "a country boy can survive". For me if I went to only one gun it would be my AR as I can carry more ammo and it meets the needs I have best.

    Remington 870 to lock down the fort. An AR for when I'm on the move, and a .45 hand gun of some type for my sidearm.

    SBR-ed uzi in 9mm. Easy to carry huge amounts of ammo, very lightweight, ive fired thousands upon thousands of rounds thru mine without any problems, and I use one for home defense, so self defense is check (and it conceals under a coat).
