I lost respect for my LGS when I found out they were buying up all the ammo at walmart every shipment and selling it for double or triple the price. I had two different walmart employees tell me this.
That is truly despicable. I'm all for capitalism, but c'mon...
Reading through this thread has brought me back to the realization that the LGS's I frequent are not only a loyal group of friends but a source of more friendships, valuable info and a lifestyle I enjoy. This does not happen at Gander/dicks/Walmart. It can not happen on line with the digital "Stores". I was in 3 different LGS yesterday looking at 1911's and ended up with the one I originally left home to get. A S&W1911PD. I could not have done the shopping on line or at any of the big box stores the way i did at the LGS. The conversations and the moments in the search were good. I could have looked through the classifieds but I feel having to show my LTCH to a stranger to buy a gun (even a rifle) is a bit much. JMHO
If a gunshop is raising their prices like that, they were never loyal in the first place.
BS. Their prices are going up too. What do you expect them to do; sell at a loss so you can have a warm moment together?
Our for sale section is full of the kind of crap you should be concerned with. People with 52 posts selling their rifles for $2k.......

To the OP, you might also take a trip up to Granger Guns. Steve, the owner, won't give you a hug when you walk in the door or chat you up about previous purchases. I've affectionately nicknamed him Grumpy He doesn't like to chat, but what he will do is give you a good deal with prompt service. He also has a nice selection of reloading supplies. I do almost all of my business with him.
