are the lancaster arms ak-74s decent? I've been looking at getting an ak-74 and try to steer away from century stuff.
If you want a -74, buy an Arsenal SGL and be done with it.
how does alternating brands play any role in barrel heat?
Thats deffinetly the worst keyholing ive ever seen
Any other story about ammo being the reason is BS propaganda fed to the customers that bought guns from a certain manufacturer.
Explain to me why only the 60gr Silver Bear is key holing for me?
So basically believe a US company who just started pumping out Ak74 barrels or believe Barnaul a Russian company that has been pumping out 5.45 ammo since 1974?
I'll think I'll go with the Russians myself....

You came to the conclusion that a 5.56mm barrel and a 5.45mm AK74 barrel are the same diameter. That statement makes no sense what so ever.
Any barrel is that is worn or for instance out of spec (too large diameter) will have problems stabilizing heavier bullets before it exhibited the same problems with lighter rounds. It probably has enough interference fit to stabilize the lighter bullets for now but once it gets worn in I bet you'll start seeing the same ole' situation key-holing with the lighter rounds as well.
From what I hear they have corrected the issue but have not heard any concrete information to back that claim up.
However I read numerous internet postings of Tantals and even S&W MP15 5.45's keyholing (less of the M&P's).
I have a Bulgarian 74 sold by Marcolmar in Richmond,IN and a WASR2 from Romania and they are by far more accurate than any of the 8 Akm47's I have owned and have never "keyholed" one time! IMO the 74 is way more fun and as reliable as any 47! Thats my for whats its worth!
Marcolmar builds 74's with original Bulgarian barrels as I remember.
Good quality from what I have seen and heard.
