I need a suggestions (hopefully local) for a light to go on my AR .

I don't want to spend anymore than $150 for the light and mount .

Of course I'd like it to have a bazillion lumen's and batteries that last for ever , or at least as long as my Aimpoint .

Also need a "kill flash" for my PRO , not really diggin the flip up cover .

I'd like to be able to pick these up local this weekend if possible .

What say you INGO ? Can we make this happen ?

"Keeping it local" will be somewhat limiting.

    Under $150 is doable.

Bradis probably carries VTAC light mounts. Probably run you ~$25.

Pair that with a Surefire or Streamlight and you'd be g2g.

Or you could run a pistol light like a TLR-1.

How do you want to mount the light? Rail? Front sight base? Barrel? Standard handguards?

We have lots of options in the sub-$150 range, using Surefire or Streamlight lights, and VTAC, Impact Weapons, Daniel Defense, ProMag or CAA mounts depending on your desired application.

Definitely not the barrel , everything else is a maybe . I have the MOE carbine hand guard on it now .

I'm thinking about mounting in the 2 o'clock with a pressure switch in the 6 o'clock position .

Whatever I get I want it to be low profile .

Between the PRO's honkin huge tension knob and the BCM charging handle there's enough stuff hanging out to the sides .

Kinda playing with the idea of CAA's "flashlight grip adapter" for a more vertical mount .

Also , you guy's carry any of the kill flash devices ?

If you want it to be low profile, ditch the pressure switch idea and simply place the light where the button is convenient to activate with your support hand.

    This thing?

Avoid. It is anything BUT low profile, and doesn't even work all that well. I got one in at the shop some time back just to see what it was about, and wasn't impressed.

Also , you guy's carry any of the kill flash devices ?

No, but I believe we can order them.

My "gut" told me to go ahead and get rails for the 10 & 2 but no , I didn't listen . Great , now I have to take the hand guards off again . :xmad:

So much for that idea .

Might as well while I'm in there . You in the shop tomorrow ?

I have found myself drifting more towards running Pistol Lights on my Carbines. Such as the Insight M3, or the Streamlight TLR...

I've been running a Surefire X300 on mine.

I have a Surefire X300 Ultra on the way, and I plan on doing a review on it next week.

What mount did you end up with?

    Impact Weapons TMC.

He decided on that because it attached to his MOE handguard without the need for extra rails, and it cantilevered the light far enough forward that he was still able to easily access the button with the thumb of his support hand, despite having his VFG mounted all the way forward.

Took it to Atterbury today to sight in the Aimpoint and I must say I'm very pleased with it's location .
