I'll be the first to admit I love chainsaws. I have work saws, modded saws, antique saws, etc.
In fact I've put in a lot more time with my finger on a chainsaw "trigger" than a gun's trigger. lol

I just wanted to share some of my chainsaw pix.

Is anyone else here crazy about saws?

Here's a few pictures of my saws and a video of me running my 3120xp.

Here's a video of a little faster saw. Not mine, but one a friend of mine running a saw from a member from a chainsaw site (arboristsite.com) I'm in.

I don't love them to the degree you seem to, but I do own a fair number of saws from small limbing saws, to general bucking saws to large felling saws. Last count I own 5 and my GF has one of her own. We also have 150 acres of woods and a sawmill, so we spend a lot of trigger time on a saw, though in my case I still shoot more than I saw :D

Just kidding, Some great looking saws you have there, my Uncle had a twin cylinder old homelite I think it was!! Wish I would have bought it at the sale my Aunt had after he passed!

I've had 2 mildly modded 066's, but sold them both. I have my eye out for another.

I'm more of a Husqvarna guys, but I still have a 084, 070, and an 044 (my favorite Stihl saw)

I do love chainsaws. When it comes to saws, I am partial to Stihl, Dolmar, and Echo. I don't like the air filtration system on Husqvarnia. They are always getting dust in the carb. I will admit, I haven't run a Dolmar, but their numbers are impressive (7900 is 6.3hp out of 4.8cu in weighing only 13.6lb... Better than the Stihl 460!)
Smaller saws, 361 Stihl gets the nod.
I like Echo for their filters and such. I don't like Oregon bars, and I HATE Oregon chains. Stihl is the king when you are talking chains.
Of course, I haven't graduated to modding saws thank God. My wife would be pissed. I can hear her now. "First guns and trucks, now THIS!!!!" :ranton:

Having been a lumberjack most of my life I love my saws. I'm partial to Stihl and own several of them. I still have my first saw I bought 15 years ago a little Stihl 017. My favorite saw is my Stihl 290 but my 660 Magnum is a close second.

You been a logger most of your life and you prefer a 290 to your 660. Something ain't quite right here. The 290 is a clam shell over weight turd. The 660 is a true professional tree slaying machine. Really there's nothing wrong with the 290-310-390 home owner series of Stihl saws for general fire wood cutting, but they are not designed the be ran hard 8 to 10 hours a day every day by people who earn their living using chainsaws.

If your uncle had a twin cylinder saw it wasn't a Homelite. They never made one. Maybe an Echo 610 or a rebadged Echo 610 John Deere, or a Solo or maybe a Mac BP1, but those BP1's are very rare.

I'm not a fan of the orange handle Stihl's either, but I can see why someone would rather have the 290 over the 660. I might mention I'm not a fan of the 660's.

I have a 395xp that was my main saw, until I fell in love with my Poulan Pro 330. The PP 330 was the last of the good Poulans and one of my favorite saws of all time.
Of course my is muffer modded, ported, timing advanced and no cylinder gasket. It also runs on 100ll air craft fuel.

I have the 066 (predecessor to the 660) and had an 068 before I crushed it with a tree, and I use it pretty much strictly for felling. I rely on my 480 and my 025 for bucking.

When I sold some timber for a TSI a couple years ago, the crew from Tallman all were using various saws in the Stihl 400 series for felling and bucking. The 660 is a lot of weight to be humping around the woods for 8 hours a day.

I stated this before on a chainsaw site and about got hung. lol. But the 066/660 is the most disappointing stock saw I've ever ran. It's also the most impressive modded saw I've ever ran.

When my 066's were stock they could bare out run my mildly modded Dolmar 7900.
(93cc's vs 79cc's) But in the 660's defence, the 7900 is a monster modded.

The 660 is a great saw though and really deserves it's huge cult following although not this fastest/powerful in it's class.

I can never see a professional tree faller choosing a 290 over an 066-MS 660, but to each is own.

    068 Stihl????? I don't think so. Maybe an 048.
