I think they are fun. I have been looking for a new or like new Marlin in 357 for some time... My buddy has one in SS and we shot 38s out of it at 200 yards and it was not bad at all. And levers are just fun. Yeeeehaaaw!

Between growing up during the period when cowboy/western shows pretty much dominated Saturdays on TV and being a southpaw, I naturally gravitated to LA's and pumps.

While several of my more "unusual" LA's had to be sacrificed during a rough financial patch, I still have my cherished favorites. In Marlins, those would be the old 336 in .35 Remington that was my first personally purchased deer rifle, the 39M .22 RF that's been my woods loafing companion for 30-odd years and an early production 1895G in .45-70 just for grins.

Also love my two pre-Taurus Rossi M92's in .357/.38 Spl.

I don't really have a favorite. I have a few doubles, 1954 and 1985 39a's and 1956 and 1983 mounties. Since they are not the exact same versions they are different to me. The last one is a marlin 1894SS limited in 44 mag.

I had a beautiful Browning BL-22 that was just the ****! Very well made; perfect fit & finish; smooth action and very accurate with pretty much any ammo. I traded it for a pre-64 Win mod 70, to have a good deer rifle.... and I added a small amout of $$. Couldn't go wrong with the deal..... but miss that Browning lever gun.

Gonna' get me another one..... same exact little gun, very soon. :yesway:

Thats a mess of Lever actions... have you ever looked or have a Henry? I am thinking of getting one, mainly because of their generosity to Hoosier Burn Camp, but I like them anyway...
Thoughts on a nice Golden Boy?

My dad has a Golden Boy that he really likes. I've had a couple of Henrys. They are nice guns for the money, other than I didn't care for the sights. I really prefer the the 39M or 39A, but you can buy 2 Henrys for the price of one of them.

Love 'em, tho I have only one. Marlin M1893 in 38-55, built July, 1900. Bought by my grand-dad. Very smooth, easy to handle...just sweet. Need to find a place to shoot it more.

I have one or two. IMO Henry is a hard one to beat, the action is head and shoulders above the others.

My favorite is a stainless Puma in 357mag that I've have.

I recently purchased a Henry Golden Boy .22mag. Chances are I will never shoot it but figured it would make a nice heirloom piece to hand down to someone.

Picture a nice 4 power on top of this and you know what DECIMATED the deer herds of east central Indiana in '10, plus protects shoppers at a local retail complex, mounted on my trusty turbo golf cart.
