So are you saying if we leave those places and mind our own business Al Quaeda and friends will leave us alone? Yeah. Didn't think so. Better to fight them there.

There will be war regardless. You guys are missing the problem. IF our foreign policy HAD been different, we might not have the problems we do now. The reality is that if you are right and our current bombs are making the terrorists of the future, then we know the fight isn't over. Might as well fight it over there. If the other camp is correct and they hate us because we aren't beholden to their religious point of view, the fighting will continue. Might as well fight it over there.

Its easy to say "get us out, leave em alone" but then what? I'm assuming your exit strategy ends in burying your head in the sand you can pretend you don't know who is engaging you in unwanted sexual relations from behind.

Pre emptive war is bs. If they try to do anything over here we have the capacity to stop them. We've lost many more Americans through this ’fight them on their turf’ than we could have possible lost fending them off from home. Al Qaeda didn't operate and train for 911 in Iraq or Afghanistan. Bin laden welcomed the invasions because he knew it'd turn into the cluster**** it is. All he has to do is run up an all Qaeda flag and we'll invade wherever, at which point they have a much easier time killing Americans with ieds and PTSD.

So are you saying if we leave those places and mind our own business Al Quaeda and friends will leave us alone? Yeah. Didn't think so.

Why don't you think so? Do you have any evidence that would suggest not? What is it? I've heard this argument over and over again but never heard a single lucid argument to support the idea.

Why wouldn't they leave us alone if we left them alone? We're so deep in having our noses up every other nation's behind it's no wonder every nation on the face of the earth is PO'd at us. We make friends with one side of a faction and 8 years later we're switching sides and supporting a different faction - or both factions. The Iranians hate us because we helped Iraq use chemical weapons against Iranians 30 years ago and then later we come along and invade Iraq. Saudis despise us because we give so much support to Israel and we claim them as our closest ally in the region. If people don't hate us because we're giving money and guns to their enemy then they hate us because we're not giving as much money to them as we do somebody else.

Any time someone suggests that the USA should stop using our monetary and military resources to "protect our interests around the world" here come the accusations of "isolationists" and "head in the sand". That's a tired old argument and a gross mis-statement of the idea entirely - pure hyperbole.

As the founding fathers said - we should seek to have friendly relations with all nations but make treaties with none.
