I, like the author of the original article I posted, see that they treat them differently because Mexico is not, a totally failed state. The others have basically been taken over by the gangs and turned into hellholes from which escape is the only seemingly sane answer. The law is reasonably clear though. Even the Mexican minors should be treated as refugees till it can be adjudicated by the proper authorities. Then they can be granted refugee status, if they truly are or sent back home if they aren't. We do have a system in place for this.
That's not why the BP turns Mexicans back....
The law applies to countries that the US does not share a border with.
Mexico shares our border so aliens can be immediately returned without going into the system.
Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvadore do not share our border.
The Central Americans are using this loophole to stay here.
So if Mexico isn't a failed state than why aren't the refugees settling there?
