I've been really looking to get another 1911 lately, but one of my recent endeavors was to consolidate calibers and the .45 acp ended up being on the get rid of list. I'm currently down to .357/.38, .44 mag and 9mm for handgun. I got thinking, maybe I could kill two birds with one rock and find a 9mm 1911. Quite certain I won't find one in .357, .38 special or .44 mag.

So, I was just curious if anyone could help and inform me of what makes and models of 1911's are chambered in 9mm. Any input would be appreciated!

Check out the Springfield EMP. A bit pricy but designed as a 1911 in miniature. Kimber also makes a 9mm 1911, the Aegis II. It too is a bit pricy, but comes in 3 flavors of small medium and large.

I just bought a Para-Ordnance LTC in 9mm at the last 1500 Andy, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! It weighs 28 ounces just like a lightweight Colt Commander, it has a full length guide rod, feels great in the hand and is very accurate! I think it might even outshoot my Kimber .45's. If it has a weak point at all, it is the finish, which seems real thin.

I have both a Springfield EMP and a Springfield Full sized in 9mm. Both have been fantastic shooters. Can't go wrong with ether one.

I had a para in 9mm and it was a good weapon, just make sure you get one of the newer models and not the old ones.

Kimber is making many models in 9MM now (saw this at shot show and checked them all out to decide my next hangun). They run on the pricey side, as do all Kimbers. I have carried a Kimber Tactical Pro in 9mm for 3 or 4 years now, wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thanks all for the suggestions! Much appreciated!

I really like the 1911's that are as close to basic GI as can be and I've been looking through what is out there and it doesn't look like there is much like that. Most are quite pricey as well.

What about getting a .380 super RIA or other economy brand and having it rebarrelled? Would that be feasible?

just about every maker has one in 9mm..
Just a note the EMP is NOT a 1911 gun.. it is a 1911 style, but does not take 1911 mags and such..
    a true 1911 can be found in 9mm, 45 acp, 40 S&W, 38 super ... and other calibers..
