My son in law is in the 101st and stationed at Ft Campbell. He is being deployed this weekend leaving his pregnant wife (my daughter) home alone. Saw the news this morning and it’s hitting harder than it typically would have. Prayers for all.
Strange fact, Ft Campbell where this tragedy took place has a sign near the gate that says “This base has gone __ days without a fatality.” If they make it to 100 days, everyone gets a day off. According to my son in law it rarely happens.
Even without active combat these boys train hard and are often in harms way. Be thankful for them accepting the risk to serve their country.
Formation Night Flying on NVG's is not the easiest flying you can do in a Helicopter. I was with the 38th Air Rescue Squadron in Korea and that was the one training they worked on all the time. Pilots said it increases your pucker factor 10 fold.
