I think the 50 post requirement is ridiculous. I belong to many forums and this is the ONLY one with such a requirement. I belonged to the Michigan Gun Owners forum (MIGUNOWNERS>ORG)and they had no such rule. A person would have to reply to a post a day and still it would take nearly 2 months to be a lowed to post. I think that is why you have very few new posts and a lot of posts with many pages of replies. Worrying about people who post just to sell and then don't post any more, so what? To me no big deal. Just drop the 50 post requirement totally and you will have more people joining and replying, posting, selling, etc.

Think what you will. We really do not care. This site is what it is. It works.

Lol wat?
contribute where I feel competent
This newb is in favor of the 50 post rule. I spy a Gunsite CCO in the classifieds. At my current pace of 1-2 posts a day, I should be able to get it in a month. Should be a screaming deal by then lol
In all seriousness, it’s your site and your rules. I acknowledge that many people run up a post count to peddle their junk and then disappear. If I kept track, I probably buy 3 firearms to every 1 I trade or sell. Until then, I’ll continue to read, learn, get different perspectives, contribute where I feel competent, and enjoy my time on this corner of the internet.
Not all of them. If they pay let them post of course. But there have been a bunch of Instructors and trainers over the years that only post their classes, do not participate other than that, and do not advertise. You can find a couple of prime examples in Training and Tactics right now.
A paid Sponsor Membership would even out the playing field. It would make sense to me that a "Sponsor" as such would benefit more by also contributing.
We do allow those who are advancing the sport/hobby/passion through training to use the forum for this free of charge.
But Coach brings up a great point. This might weed out the posers from the real deal.
Let us consider this.
In the past Tactics and Training has been free. Which is great if the person is on INGO for doing more than advertising their training. I am proposing doing what is done the classifieds. Post a class in tactics and training once you have 50 posts, or if you are and advertiser, or perhaps create a site supporter category for trainers that does not provide a sub forum but allows posting in Tactics and Training for a one time fee.
I get the 50 post needed to post a classified. Even to open a thread. However classifieds go both ways; buy and sell. There is a item in classifieds I would buy; item has been unsold for 2 weeks now. I assume the seller wants to sell as it has been bumped. BUT, I can't send the guy $2400 because I don't have 50 posts. No issue with scams or spam from the people actually giving money I would think. Honestly, i would be the one worried about getting scammed, because i'm the one sending money and hoping the seller actually sends the item sold haha... thoughts?
NM read the thoughts here. everyone has opinions, some dont count
