i am trying to pick between a 22mag and 22-250. More for just going out shooting than anything mabye shoot some coyotes in close enough. what are your thoughts
The 22 mag is just moderately more powerful than the 22lr. Ammo is cheap, and should be available at 15 bucks for 50.
The 22-250 is a high powered center-fire cartridge, and is a very flat shooting coyote popping round. Good for long range, but fairly expensive to shoot. Rounds cost around 20-30 bucks for 20.
Sorta like trying to decide between a go cart and an Indy Car. The 22mag is a rimfire cartridge that you could use to plink, target shoot and hunt small game/varmints with for about $10/50 rounds whereas the 22/250 is a powerful, and LOUD, centerfire cartridge that could be used for larger varmints and target shooting but cost around $20 a box of 20. I'd go with the 22 mag for a general all around rifle. Plus you can get a hand gun in the same caliber if you want.
Try to find a CZ452 or 455 in 22 mag. They are great rifles and very accurate. The 455 gives you the option of swapping bbls to 22LR and 17HMR as well.
